OroraTech Raises $27 Million to Enhance Wildfire Prediction Technology

Munich-based OroraTech secures $27 million in Series B funding to expand its AI-powered wildfire prediction and monitoring services.

Climate & Energy

OroraTech, a Munich-based startup specializing in wildfire prediction and monitoring, has successfully raised $27 million in Series B funding. The company utilizes thermal infrared data collected from over 25 satellites to provide critical insights for wildfire risk assessment and management.

The startup's innovative approach combines satellite data with predictive AI modeling to forecast wildfire risks on a global scale. This technology has garnered interest from various sectors, including governments, commercial forestries, energy companies, and insurers. Notable among its clients is the Greek government, which has signed a contract with OroraTech.

The funding round was led by Korys, the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF), and Bayern Kapital, with additional investments from Edaphone Private Impact Fund, Ananda Impact Ventures, ConActivity KG, and Findus Venture. The capital injection will be used to fuel OroraTech's expansion into the US market and further develop its orbital sensor network.

OroraTech's business model is based on a subscription service, allowing clients to integrate the company's data stream into their own systems via API. The startup's positioning at the intersection of AI, climate technology, and space tech has proven attractive to investors, particularly in the current climate where AI startups are experiencing significant funding interest.

As climate change continues to exacerbate wildfire risks globally, OroraTech's technology could play a crucial role in early detection and prevention strategies. For energy companies, particularly those with infrastructure in fire-prone areas, such predictive capabilities could be invaluable for risk management and asset protection.
