Global Wind Power Growth Faces Headwinds from U.S. Supply Challenges and China's Regulations

Wind energy expansion slows, with U.S. supply chain issues and China's regulatory hurdles cutting global capacity forecasts.

Wind Power

The growth of wind power is slowing in the U.S. due to a variety of factors, including supply chain issues, bureaucratic hurdles, and a lack of transmission infrastructure. The slowing wind energy growth in China is mainly due to regulatory tightening, delays in approval processes, and project cancellations. These factors have led to a reduction in the projected global wind power capacity by 29 gigawatts by the end of 2032, according to consultancy Wood Mackenzie. Despite these short-term challenges, the long-term outlook for the wind power market remains strong, with significant investments expected in the coming years to overcome the current obstacles.
