Dude Perfect, the popular YouTube channel known for its sports-related content and trick shots, is expanding its media empire with plans for a new production facility in Frisco, Texas. The facility, scheduled to open in 2025, will not only serve as a hub for Dude Perfect's own content creation but will also be available to other creators and brands looking to film in the Dallas area.
The 80,000-square-foot entertainment destination will feature a Dude Perfect museum, mini-golf course, and restaurants, alongside the state-of-the-art production studio. The studio will be equipped with Samsung technology and designed to be adaptable for various types of content creation.
This expansion comes on the heels of a $100 million-plus investment from Highmount Capital and the appointment of Andrew Yaffe as the company's first CEO. Dude Perfect, which boasts over 60 million YouTube subscribers, is positioning itself as a full-fledged media enterprise with revenue projected to exceed $50 million this year.
The move highlights the growing importance of Dallas as a media production hub. In 2023, Dallas captured 2% of traditional US film and TV jobs, making it the third-largest film market after Los Angeles and New York. Texas' 17-year-old film incentive program has been instrumental in attracting productions to the state.
Dude Perfect's expansion in Texas, rather than relocating to traditional entertainment centers like Los Angeles, underscores a shift in the media landscape. As YouTube and other digital platforms continue to capture more viewer screen time, the lines between social media content and traditional filmed entertainment are blurring.
The company's decision to remain and expand in Texas reflects a broader trend of decentralization in the entertainment industry, with creators and production companies finding success outside of traditional hubs. This move could potentially attract more talent and productions to the Dallas area, further solidifying its position as an emerging center for media and entertainment.
